The Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy announces the upcoming launch of the world’s largest urban festival in Poland

WARSAW, June 24, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The eleventh session of the World Urban Forum (FUM11) will begin on June 26 at Katowice (Poland) under the banner “Transforming our cities for a better urban future”. During the five days of the Forum, the eyes of the world will be on Katowice where experts, politicians and local government representatives will discuss urban development and the future of cities. In addition to the debates, sessions and presentations, the FUM11 will also offer many attractions, such as the Urban Expo, concerts, meetings with young people and even urban cinema. Free registration at www.unevents.org/Home/Register is open until June 25. Online participation in the event is also possible.

WUF Core Curriculum

WUF11’s core program is made up of many types of events, such as dialogues, special sessions, workshops and panel discussions. These events are organized by UN-Habitat, Poland, as well as external partners selected through an open call. Nearly five hundred events of this type are scheduled at the International Convention Centre, so there will be plenty to choose from!

“We have received a record number of offers, almost a thousand, from interested parties interested in hosting WUF events. No previous WUF has noted such interest,” the Deputy Minister said. Development Funds and Małgorzata Jarosińska-Jedynak Regional Policy.

Chillout, concerts, urban cinema – holiday atmosphere at FUM11

During WUF11, learning and entertainment will go hand in hand. After each day of discussions and presentations at the ICC (participation is free but upon prior registration, in June 25, 2022), WUF11 delegates will explore the city. The center of Katowice will be divided into eleven zones:

As all of these areas are within a 15-minute walk of the ICC, we recommend that you make the most of your stay in Katowice and visit them all.

A spectacular attraction that is sure to attract both WUF delegates and Katowice residents will be Urban EXPO, a major exhibition where countries, cities, companies and NGOs will display their promotional pavilions. Participants will be able to discover and “experiment” with innovative ideas for cities around the world.
