Commercial Bank of Ceylon’s automated cash distribution network, which includes automated teller machines and cash machines (CRMs), distributed 91.872 billion rupees in December, as Sri Lankans celebrated the holiday season and were preparing for 2022.

On December 31, the network distributed 4.234 billion rupees, a single-day figure surpassed only by disbursements on April 9 and 10, 2021, Sri Lanka’s private sector benchmark bank reported. Comprised of 625 ATMs and 275 CRMs, the Commercial Bank’s automated cash distribution network processed 5.3 million transactions in December 2021 at an average of 170,933 transactions per day, or 7,122 transactions per hour. As of December 24, the number of transactions processed stood at 241,427, the highest single-day figure for 2021.
