Commercial Bank launches the first service of its kind “CBSafe ID”

Doha: With the aim of further empowering customers and making their transactions more secure, Commercial Bank has launched its latest innovation, “CBSafe ID”, the first digital security service of its kind in Qatar. The new service allows bank customers to ensure that the caller is genuine and that they are calling from the commercial bank.

The bank organized a roundtable on virtual media which was addressed by Amit Sah, EGM – Head of Retail Banking; Roya Khajeh, AGA- Head of Cards and Payments, and Nayef Al Beshri, AGA- Head of Branchs. Officials pointed out that Commercial Bank’s innovations focus on empowering customers through innovative products and services that provide them with convenience, choice and control. The session was moderated by Ghada Kofa, Corporate Communications Manager. Speaking at the event, Amit Sah said: “Commercial Bank believes that digital leadership is about empowering customers to choose when, where and how they engage with us at their convenience. Our philosophy of innovation is driven by value created for customers rather than innovation for innovation, which is why we have a laser-centric approach to adoption and use ”.

Giving more details on the CBSafe ID service, he said Commercial Bank has created a way for customers to take back control when they try to validate if the caller is genuine and if they are calling from the bank. Using the CBQ mobile app, customers will be able to identify legitimate calls from the bank, ensuring the authenticity of the caller and reducing the chances that a fraudster will cheat on them.

In this new service, the Bank agent, before calling, initiates a push notification on the customer’s registered mobile number, to inform him that the Bank is about to call. Then the commercial bank agent calls the customers and speaks the CBSafe ID number displayed on the customer’s mobile banking app login screen, which in turn confirms the caller’s authenticity. The dynamic nature of CBSafe ID provides an additional layer of protection to the service which makes it safer to use. The code creates a new dynamic password each time CBSafe ID is used.

The head of the commercial bank also referred to another innovative service that was recently introduced, the “CB Video Relationship Manager”. Thanks to this service, clients can meet their Relationship Manager without having to visit an agency or salon.

Sah said, “CB Video Relationship Manager is more than a video conferencing tool. Although its use is similar to the many platforms that customers are already familiar with, it has some additional special features that Commercial Bank is once again bringing to the Qatar market first. The CB Video Relationship Manager allows clients to do whatever they would normally do if they were physically face to face in the bank ”.

Nayef Al Beshri, provided an insightful overview of the three distinct styles of branches that meet all client needs, especially the latest paperless branch that Commercial Bank recently opened. “This is only the first step towards reshaping the physical presence of all commercial bank branch networks in the country to be more efficient, user-friendly and, most importantly, paperless. The paperless concept at the counter will be implemented in all of our branches, ”said Al Beshri.

Commercial Bank was the first bank in Qatar to introduce many key features, including self-service card printing machines, CB Pay, as well as payment services with Apple Pay and portable devices like Fitbit and Garmin. While customers always look forward to new digital services from CB, they still expect to receive safe, secure and reliable services.

Roya Khajeh said: “Commercial Bank is constantly striving to present the latest and most innovative services to our clients. Self-service card printing machines allow our customers to easily print their cards through simple self-service steps. This service follows on from many innovative digital solutions that we have offered to our customers such as CB Pay which allows customers to add their CB cards and make secure payments using their Android phones ”.
