Thursday, 03/02/2022, 10:00 – 11:10 CET
After the success of the five episodes of the series “Beyond Borders: Breakfast Debate” in 2021, the next edition will take place on February 3, 2022, and will focus on the role of young people in cross-border cooperation.
2022 is the European Year of Youth and at the heart of this is the recognition that full cooperation and social cohesion can only be possible with the involvement of young people and their active participation in civic life. The sixth edition of the “Beyond Borders: Breakfast Debate” will be inspired by the “Manifesto for young people by young people to shape European cooperation policy”, which is the result of a democratic and bottom-up process aimed at involving young people in shaping the future of EU cohesion policy, and the IVY volunteering programme, an initiative offering the possibility for young people aged 18 to 30 to serve as volunteers in cross-border, transnational or interregional programs and projects.
During the event, youth representatives will present the Youth Manifesto and their ideas on how to make European Territorial Cooperation more in line with their expectations; representatives of France-Italy and Romania-Bulgaria cross-border initiatives will present concrete examples of cooperation that empower young people. This will be followed by a discussion involving speakers from the IVY volunteering program and the creators of a new massive open online course (MOOC) on territorial cooperation in Europe on how to promote youth engagement in future programs of European territorial cooperation.
The sixth edition of the ‘Beyond Borders: Breakfast Debate’ hopes to encourage young people to engage and get involved in cross-border projects and youth associations in border regions to work with equivalent associations on the other side of the border . It also aims to inspire cross-border cooperation actors to promote opportunities for youth engagement in their programmes.
